Leeds MAG 2012 Event Reports

Well Leeds MAG has hit the ground running in 2012 with two events already and February isn’t even out!

Valentines Party 18th February 2012

Firstly we had the Leeds MAG Valentines party making a welcome comeback after a year off. We again had it at The Parkfield Suite, which seems to suit our needs perfectly. We had a new local band, Maloik, playing for us and they went down a treat and most of our local dealers helped out with raffle prizes to help us raise more funds for MAG. We had over 80 people in attendance, all of who left with big smiles and looking forward to the next Leeds MAG party, which is already booked for the Friday before Halloween! After costs, £340 was raised for MAG.

The following Sunday Leeds MAG organised our annual Fred Hill run. Over the past few years we’ve had a vast array of weather from snow and ice, to wet and then this year, mild, dry and bright, which was a result and encouraged a very good turn out.

Fred Hill Run 26th February 2012

We had 137 bikes setting off from Squires Café to ride the 32 miles to The Sun Inn at Norwood. Conditions were excellent and the positive comments we received on arrival at The Sun will ensure that the Leeds MAG Fred Hill run will always remain as a fixture in the Yorkshire MAG calendar. We did a bucket rattle upon arrival and raised another £143.50 for the MAG fighting fund. Thanks must go to some of our members and also to The East Leeds Lions for their help with the marshalling of the ride, which was impeccable, yet again."

Lineham Farm Easter Egg Run 26th March 2012

On Wednesday 28th March, Leeds MAG had it’s annual Easter Egg run to Lineham Farm childrens centre in Eccup.
32 bikes and 8 trikes left the car park of Cardigan Fields on Kirkstall Road for the marshalled ride across Leeds in the rush hour traffic. We arrived at the farm just before 7pm and were closely followed by six bikes from the East Leeds Lions making a grand total of 46 vehicles.
We were welcomed with tea, pop, hot cross buns and flapjacks, which was very gratefully received.
We then filed into the sitting room and the children came in from the games room, all wide eyed with the masses of Easter eggs we’d brought.
Each group of kids came up in turn and chose an egg from the pile, then picked a cuddly toy from the bag that we’d had donated by a couple of local MAG members (thanks Frank and Denny)
We then presented Lineham Farm with a cheque for £50 that we had raised at our previous meeting, by raffling a large egg that had been donated.
All in all a very successful event that created smiles all round.
A big thanks must go to Maynews, B&M, Poundland, Tescos and Berties Diner as well as all the participants for their kind egg donations.
